Maine Holiday Gifts
Last year for Christmas I committed to buying only gifts from Maine small businesses, and was super grateful for some holiday gift lists I found floating around the inter webs. SO, after a successful 2020 holiday season (in my opinion, as the gift giver 😊) I thought we’d put together our own! Below are all products that we have personally bought for ourselves or others, so we can totally vouch for them, and THE small businesses that create them 👍🏻 Here’s our quick cheat sheet up front, but if you scroll down you can read more and see photos (and extra links) for each of these businesses!
Our Favorite Maine Gifts…
Pom Pom Felt Slippers, Mulxiply
Sea Salt Gift Set, Slack Tide Sea Salt
Maine Wreath (delivered right to their door!), LL Bean
Bean Boot Bouquet Crop Hoodie, Reclaimed Maine
Miir Camp Cup, Maine Beer
Maine Rocks Ring, Marrick
Framed Print, Sarah Madeira Day
State of Maine Relief Print (plus lots of other great maps!), Benoit’s Designs
Maine Photo Prints, Justin Smulski
Spring Weekend Getaway, Cozy Rock Cabin
Hands down my favorite slippers, I wear them every day and have even been known to carry them to other people’s houses so I can wear while there. Recently I brought them on a video shoot where we were dealing with creaky wood floors so I could walk around quietly and my client laughed and said ‘Those are some Maine ass slippers!’. She’s right, and they’re every bit as comfortable and warm as they are cute. HIGHLY recommend (for yourself, or for someone else).
This woman owned company based out of Southern Maine has become one of our favorite Maine based businesses, and has approximately 10 different gifts I would recommend. Last Christmas I gifted most of my family the ‘Deluxe Salt Collection Gift Box’, but have since purchased and enjoyed many of their gifts. If someone were buying for me, I’d probably request the Maine Marg Gift Set (I’m a big margarita fan, and their mix is DELICIOUS). But I’ve also ordered (and loved) the Upta Camp Ceramic Candle Filled Mug (once the candle is burned you can use the mug as a drinking vessel!), and plan to one day order the Slack Tide Stein. You really can’t go wrong with the whole gift section of their website.

This one isn’t a gift we gave last year, but it is a gift my Aunt and Uncle have gifted us the last couple years and we LOVE. A real fir wreath from LL Bean shipped directly to your door- not only is it beautiful, but our house smells like the woods of Maine for the whole holiday season. This is a great gift for family you’re not traveling to see, as you can order from home and have it shipped straight to their door. Also, where writing this I discovered their Christmas Reindeer Live Tree w/ Lights that I think could be a good gift, so check that out too!

Bean Boot Bouquet Hoodie/TShirt
To be clear, Reclaimed Maine has LOTS of great gift options, this is just my personal favorite. (Though I’m also a big fan of her mugs, stemless wine glasses, charcuterie boards and stickers 👍🏻). The Bean boot is such a classic Maine image, but she’s added a bouquet inside which makes it unique, and beautiful. We’ve recently added these stickers to our personal collection, and I wear this hoodie almost daily. More often than I should.

Maine Beer Miir Camp Cup
If we’re being honest, I discovered this when looking on the Maine Beer website to see if they ship beer (cause if Maine Beer isn’t a great holiday gift, I don’t know what is)…. unfortunately they don’t but you CAN get this adorable travel mug! As someone who carries coffee in her car daily, and spills it almost daily, this seems like a very attractive alternative.

Marrick is a jewelry company out of Biddeford, Maine and I will be honest I do not yet own this product. BUT, I’ve been eyeing the Maine Rocks ring for months (and WILL buy it), and Sean and I are planning to order their ‘The Way Life Should Be’ rings as our wedding bands. These rings are made from Maine rocks, and are beautiful and can be bought in a variety of sizes depending on your personal preference. They also have necklaces, earrings and bracelets, it’s just this ring is what caught my eye.

I fell in love with Sara’s art when I discovered her on IG during the build, and knew immediately we needed a piece on the walls of Cozy Rock. At first I had my sights set on an original (I’m a sucker for art), but after attempting to purchase one several times during a new release and missing out I decided to go for a print. And while I still dream of one day owning an original, I loved the print so much we ended up getting a second one for a different room in the cabin. We opted to get it printed on canvas, and the first one we framed ourselves down here in North Carolina. The second one we ordered with a frame, and I would hands down recommend this option. The frame is AMAZING, and it went straight up on the wall upon arrival. I first fell in love with her Maine landscapes, but she also does incredible abstract work so you really can’t go wrong!

Benoit’s Designs Art & Blankets
Last Christmas I bought a Sugarloaf blanket for my Uncle and Aunt (he’s on ski patrol there, and they own the cutest cabin right down the road) and was SUPER pumped about it. Then this year we were struggling to find a piece of art for the bedroom wall, and ended up buying a wood relief of the Casco Bay. But if blankets and art aren’t your jam, they also have glassware, hats, t-shirts, camp flags… you name it. It’s perfect for those Maine lovers in your family, and especially if there’s a specific spot in the state that holds special meaning. Though as I searched around this year to write this post, I also noticed they have blankets for great ski spots nationwide. So basically, these gifts could be good for anyone. I’m just waiting for them to come out with some Sebec Lake gear 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

We found this Maine company (based in Portland) during the build, and ended up creating custom Coy Rock candles for the cabin. They smell AMAZING, and I get asked all the time where they’re from. Plus, they’re focused on being a sustainable, environmentally friendly company who will provide refills for any candle you buy from them. Our personal favorite? The White Pine.

If you live in Maine and spend any time on Instagram you probably already know who @tidetopine is. And if you live in Maine and don’t spend much time on Instagram then you might not know who he is, but you’ve definitely seen his photographs before. This guy keeps BUSY traveling all over the state capturing everything that makes Maine special (and some might say #thewaylifeshouldbe). I have loved learning about the state, and especially the small businesses who make it run, through his lens and love the idea of gifting someone you love one of his prints.

I can’t quite remember why I got Sean a bathrobe for Christmas last year, but it turned out to be one of the biggest hits of the year. He wears it daily when he gets out of the shower, and I started sneaking a turn and decided we needed some for the cabin. Now it’s one of my favorite treats when I’m there, and one of my biggest gift recommendations for the year! I will warn they were backordered for a while, but they seem to be back in stock and ready to gift 👍🏻

A lot of our friends have stopped giving gifts to each other for the holidays, but instead are giving experiences. I love this idea, especially since I never know exactly what I want when people ask anyways, but also since there’s been such limited travel over the past couple of years. We’ve got some catching up to do! So what’s better than gifting a loved one a weekend (or weekday) stay at a cozy cabin in the woods of Maine.
